Ages 7-8 years old

Service Description
It's a Star Spangled Summer Music class to celebrate our country's 250th anniversary! Please join us for a music-filled three day session as we journey through melodies from our nation's past, learning basic musical concepts through music and movement. We will explore different percussion instruments and learn about rhythm as we march, sing, and dance to old favorites, as well as new ones! We will also learn about three American-born saints, St. Katherine Drexel, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and Kateri Tekakwitha- musically, of course! May God Bless America! Beginning with basic musicianship, this class will mainly focus on two areas: vocal development and playing the recorder. Singing is our most important instrument and we will work on techniques to improve tone, quality and range. This will be accomplished through various vocal exercises and age appropriate songs. We will use The Usborne First Book of the Recorder as our main text as it is very informative about basic musicianship and has a large repertoire of songs for the recorder. Instructor: Christine Pueyo
